Summary: This is a unique and beautiful property offering beautiful river views with a touch of history as well as modern conveniences. Lots to do: Cooking in the gourmet kitchen, cocktails and cards on the stone veranda overlooking the river, visiting the cute shops and restaurants in Marine on St. Croix or hiking in William O'Brien State Park. Just be sure to allow time in your schedule for your visit with the Sheriff. Apparently, there is an ongoing dispute between the owner and the city as to the permit status for rentals. I asked the owner about this prior to our stay (having seen a news article on the topic) and was assured all permits were in place. The Sheriff told a different story when he visited to gather our names, contact info and details of our rental. Again, beautiful property and unique experience, but 'renter be ware' of the added drama that comes with it!
